Payments

Card payments are handled by Stripe. You enter your card details into a payment form that Stripe provides, and they go directly to Stripe, so your card number never reaches our servers and we do not store it. If you pay with PayPal, your card or bank details are handled by PayPal.

HTTPS

Every page on countingdownto.com, including the countdowns you embed on your own site, is served over HTTPS, so information sent between your browser and our site is encrypted. If you visit an http:// address, we redirect you to the https:// version. To check the connection, look for https:// at the start of the address, or click the icon to the left of the address in your browser's address bar to see the connection and certificate details.

Countdowns on your website

Most countdown embed codes are a single iframe. The countdown loads as a separate page from countingdownto.com, and your visitors' browsers keep it apart from your page: it cannot read or change your page, what visitors type into it, or your site's cookies.

Two kinds of embed code also run a short script on your page:

  • Evergreen countdowns, where each visitor gets their own deadline. The embed code includes a few lines of script that you can read in the code you paste. The script sets a cookie named cdt_vid on your site that holds a random ID, then loads the countdown iframe with that ID so a returning visitor sees the same deadline.
  • Countdowns that use the Inline style. The embed code loads a script from w2.countingdownto.com that writes the countdown text directly into your page. Like any script you add to your site, it runs with full access to the page.
